Hi Everyone!

picture of DJ smiling during his daily postingThis weekend is a three day holiday weekend in the Philippines. The storms are all gone and we are having great weather. What has made it extra special is Mama surprised us all and had two of our cousins here for the whole weekend.

It has been great, so far, as I have my older brother and sisters plus two cousins to play with all day. We have been playing games outside during the day time and playing video games and watching movies (with great big bowls of popcorn) during the evening.

This morning we all attended church services and played the rest of the day. Tomorrow, we will play but my cousins must go home in the late afternoon as they must get ready for school on Tuesday.

What a great weekend! I hope that you all had a safe and wonderful weekend.

Hi Everyone!

picture of DJ smiling during his daily postingWow! it’s four months and counting since I started DJ’s World.

This adventure started with Mama, Dada, Darwin, and myself. Darwin uses his art talents to create my cartoon image. Mama and Dada help me with my daily postings and Dada handles the design and development of DJ’s World website. Dada is not a website developer/designer but has over the past months learned a great deal about this area. Our site is based on the great program Wordpress which is the number one blogging program and is quickly becoming a favorite program for Content Management with top corporations in the world. Our template was chosen from a portfolio of great designs located at the Template Panic website. Dada has done all the modifications to the template to make it unique to DJ’s World.

Dada continues to make changes as he learns more about design and HTML coding. He says that it has become a hobby and a “labor of love.” Today, he made a few changes that he thought were necessary for better function of the site and to bring a better viewing experience to our visiting friends.

You might notice that Dada moved the K-8 Store from a Page location to a right sidebar “widget.” He told me that it will give it more exposure to our visitors. Dada used the page space to put in a new Site Map. Site Maps are important when a visitor wants to find something within the site in a hurry.

Dada told me that work on the new DJ’s  Store is on-going and we are making good progress. He said we should have the Grand Opening the first week of October. We will be having a lot of great things including special items for the upcoming holidays. We hope that you will visit our stores and try out the products. Remember a large portion of of the profits will go to the special organizations that we display at DJ’s World.

Our work on DJ’s School is, also, continuing and we see the Grand Opening by the end of the year. Dada said that he is doing the final work on the concept of how to present the educational materials.

Our future postings will be highlighting different regions of the Philippines, Philippine history, and Philippine heroes. We will, continue, to discuss news events that are of interest to children and, of course, movies and games.

In closing, we at Dj’s World want to thank you for your visits and your support. We will never take your friendship for granted and we will always keep DJ’s World a safe place for children and families to visit.

Thanks for your visit.

Have a great and safe weekend. Please Click To Comment

Hi Everyone!

picture of DJ smiling during his daily postingYesterday, I was able to watch the new movie Wall-E.

The movie starts in the future, where humans have trashed Earth to the point it’s uninhabitable. With no means to sustain themselves - plants have all died or are buried under garbage and humans have fled in spaceships where they live their lives and  are serviced by robots.
Back on Earth, WALL-E (short for Waste Allocation Load Lifter Earth-Class) goes about his daily, lonely job of compacting trash. It’s what he was built for and programmed to do, and there’s no reason for him to stop. He was inadvertently left turned on when everyone took off, so he goes about his work each and every day with only a cockroach named Hal as a friend. WALL-E has developed a personality over the hundreds of years alone. He collects items of trash that he then uses to furnish and decorate his home. He’s also developed an affection for the old movie  Hello, Dolly! and watches the old VHS tape over and over again.

picture of main character Wall-E the robot in the movie Wall-E

Hello, Dolly! has taught WALL-E about holding hands and falling in love, and the lonesome robot has dreams of finding that someone special. After endless years of waiting, WALL-E’s shot at love appears in the form of a glistening egg-shaped drone named EVE. EVE was sent to Earth to check for any signs of life, and WALL-E falls in love for this state-of-the-art metallic cutie. He wants nothing more than to make a connection with this beauty, but EVE’s not on the same wavelength. Fortunately, WALL-E does not give up and when EVE’s sent back to report her findings to the people on board the Axiom spaceship, WALL-E goes along for the ride. Nothing will Wall-E from being with his new love EVE, not hundreds of thousands of miles of space travel, evil robots, or people who’ve lost all concept of what life on Earth was like before their ancestors all but destroyed our planet.

There is the message being taught about protecting our environment and not being so reliant on technology to do our everyday things. What is really neat is there are very few spoken words as WALL-E relies on the movements of a trash compactor wearing binoculars to convey emotions and move forward the story.Within 5 minutes WALL-E is no longer a mere robot but a real creature who feels things as deeply as humans.

Wall-E is really a great movie that I know I will watch many times. It is a great movie for children of all ages right up to 90+ years old!

I give Wall-E  Five Golden Binkees.

Hi Everyone!

picture of DJ smiling during his daily postingDid you miss me?

I hope so as I have been on a “break” from DJ’s World to spend time with family. The past four days have been a wonderful time. We had a full house with many of my family relatives. So many of my cousins stayed at our house. Mama said that it was okay to not post the last four days as she said that it was important to spend time with my cousins.

Even though the weather was  really bad with so much wind and rain the last four days, we were able to play so many games, watch movies and talk together. We did get to play outside when it wasn’t raining. The whole extended family played tether ball and soccer. It was really fun. My older sisters with their girl cousins stayed up really late Saturday night to watch “crush” movies (that’s love movies) and do “girl gossip.” Sunday morning we all watched Mass services on television as we could not go outside because it was such bad weather. My baby girl cousin had a birthday party on Sunday as she is 2 years old. I don’t like being around her right now because she is always wanting her way and screaming when she doesn’t get it. I ask Mama if I was like that when I was 2 years old and she said “No.”

I really was sad when everyone left late Sunday. I really like having all the people in our house and, most importantly, I love to have all my cousins playing with me. Mama said that there may be a chance that some of my cousins will come back next weekend. I am looking forward to that!

How was your weekend?

Thanks for your visit.

Hi Everyone!

DJ smiling during his daily postingDada has made some additions to Dj’s World.

The first addition is a new page called “Archives.” Since Dj’s World is growing larger everyday, Dada thought it would be a good idea to have a page set-up so that you can look for specific postings. This is like a catalog of postings and it lets you see if there is an interesting article that you may have missed or, if you are new to DJ’s World, a nice way to catch up with the different postings. Take a look at the new page and spend some time looking through the postings.

The next addition is DJ’s Reviews. I had posted, early on, that I would like to tell you about movies that I like to watch and about games that I play on my computer and my Play Station 2. Mama and I came up with a rating system. We call it the “Golden Binkee Award.” We will use from one to five golden binkees to rate the item. Here is an example of the Golden Binkee Award.

A picture of the Golden Binkee Award showing 5 golden binkees

We will rate the movie or game based on a rating system of one golden binkee means “Don’t waste your time.” Two golden binkee means “Its OK but I wouldn’t keep it for further use.” Three golden binkee means “Its great and you should keep it for your “library of fun.”" Four golden binkees means “I want to use it on a weekly basis.” Finally, five golden binkees means “How did I ever live without it. I need it everyday!”

I know that many of the movies and games may have been around a long time but for many young children (like myself), it is the first time we are getting to see the movie or play the game. Many older movies or games have a lot to offer for young children.

I hope that you will enjoy these new additions to DJ’s World.

In closing, I know that I have many visitors to DJ’s World each and everyday. I would like to ask a favor of all of you. Please leave your comments so that we will know what you think about the postings and with your suggestions, we can make DJ’s World a better, more fun place for everyone.

Thanks for your visit. See you tomorrow!
