Hi Everyone!

picture of DJ smiling during his daily postingToday, Mama brought a copy of the new computer game called Kung Fu Panda Game.

I reviewed the movie on Monday after watching it Sunday night. I thought it was a great movie (please read my review from Monday, July 7th). I was really excited to see what the game would be like.

Dada installed the game on my computer. The first thing I noticed that it took a long time to install. I asked Dada why and he said it was a very large game and took a lot of space on the hard drive of the computer. He, also, said that it requires a lot of memory and a high speed 3D video card. When the game started up, I noticed, again, that it took a long time to load. Dada said that it takes a while to load the starting graphics.

In the Kung Fu Panda video game, you go on an action-packed adventure as you master the specialized Kung Fu fighting styles of Po the Panda, the unlikely hero, his teacher Shifu, and the legendary Kung Fu masters, the Furious Five: Monkey, Tigress, Viper, Mantis and Crane. Through 13 levels from the movie and spanning land, water and air, you must work your way to become the Dragon Warrior and defeat the ultimate enemy, Tai Lung, as you battle a variety of foes, overcome dangerous obstacles, navigate multi-tiered environments and solve challenging puzzles.

You must learn to utilize the special abilities and combat skills of Po, Shifu, Monkey, Tigress, Viper, Crane and Mantis. As gameplay progresses, you will unlock and experience each character’s special moves and upgrades. Master Po’s signature “Panda Style” maneuvers, including the Panda Quake, Panda Stumble and Iron Belly Blast. Plus earn awesome Kung Fu upgrades increasing Po’s strength, speed and agility, as he progresses from the unlikely hero to the powerful Dragon Warrior. Play as Po’s teacher, Shifu, the quick, agile and impressively skilled Kung Fu master. To be successful you must make use of Shifu’s wisdom and speed to perfect his whirlwind techniques. Take control of the daring Tigress, and utilize her fluid and powerful moves focusing on fast, stylized combat that allows gamers to master the Leaping Force and Tiger Charge maneuvers. Monkey’s spring-loaded tail attacks and explosive style make him one of the fastest Kung Fu masters around. His acrobatic abilities will let players execute a variety of lightening-fast platforming moves. Viper’s snake-like stealth abilities allow you to utilize her stealth abilities to pull off such moves as the Umbrella, Enemy Taxi and Choking Coil attacks. You will soar with Crane’s Surface-to-Air Attacks using his graceful and light footed movements, which allow them to Fly, Glide and Swoop. Although the smallest of the Furious Five, Mantis’ super strength, strong grab maneuvers and super quick burst moves will allow players to deliver powerful and paralyzing strikes to foes.

I know that this game is going to give me a lot of fun times playing the different characters. I think this is one of the best games that I have seen in a long while. Dada checked and this game is available for the following game platforms: 360, MB, NDS, PS2, PS3, and WII.

I award Kung Fu Panda PC Video Game 5 Golden Binkees:

Hi everyone!

DJ smiling during his daily postingToday, I am going to do my first movie review.

I will be reviewing Monsters, Inc.. This is one of my favorite movies. Our review will, first, tell the story of the movie. We do that so parents and children can decide if it is a movie that is good for the family. Sometimes, there are “things” in movies, even children’s movies, that may not be right for a particular family situation. After giving the story line, I will tell you how I feel about the movie. So lets get started.

MONSTERS, INC.

The story begins in Monstropolis, a city inhabited by monsters, and centers around Monsters, Inc., the city’s power company. Monsters, Inc. sends its employees to children’s bedrooms, around the world, to scare the children, through teleportation doors set up on the work floor. The screams of children, which is bottled in metal cans, are then generated as electric power for the city. The chairman and chief executive officer of Monsters, Inc. is a crab-like monster called Henry J. Waternoose. The top scarer at Monsters, Inc. is James P. “Sulley” Sullivan, a furry, blue - green, giant who is partnered with the short, green, one-eyed Mike Wazowski.

The two of them are best friends and roommates. Sulley is a gentle and easy-going creature, while Mike is obsessed with his car and with marrying his girlfriend, the snakey-haired Celia Mae. Sulley’s main rival as a scarer is the chameleon-like Randall Boggs, who has the ability to change the color of his skin to match his surroundings, and is second only to Sulley in the scarer ranks.

As Sulley and Mike are going to work one day, they talk about the city suffering a power shortage because children are not as scared anymore because of over-exposure to television, making screams harder to get from the kids. Just before they are about to leave after a long day, the company secretary,Roz, asks Mike to hand in his paperwork. Mike had forgotten about it, and leaves it to Sulley to fill up his papers and hand them in, since Mike is in a hurry to leave on a date to celebrate Celia’s birthday. As Sulley reaches the work floor to find Mike’s papers, he finds a open door on the work floor. He knows that this is not allowed.

After inspecting the door, Sulley discovers a little human girl behind it. Because Sulley lacks the access card required to open the door, he cannot return her home. Frightened, Sulley tries his best to hide the girl from coworkers, as it is believed that humans are toxic to monsters. After several misadventures, Sulley finally takes the girl to Mike, who is enjoying a romantic dinner with his girlfriend at a sushi restaurant. The girl escapes from Sulley’s attention at the restaurant, creating havoc amongst the monsters, and triggering the CDA (Child Detection Agency) troops to take action; Mike and Sulley grab the girl and hurry home, trying to avoid the CDA’s attention.

The girl stays overnight at Mike and Sulley’s apartment and is soon named Boo, for her habit of saying “Boo!” to surprise Sulley. The two come to know she is not dangerous as they thought, but still plan to return her to her world the next day to avoid trouble from the CDA. They disguise her as a monster and sneak her inside Monsters, Inc., where they lose and regain track of her two or three times. Eventually, Mike is caught by Randall, who offers to return Boo’s door to the work floor. When Sulley mistrusts Randall, Mike enters the door himself to prove its safe and is mistaken for Boo by Randall, who places him in a box and takes him to a room hidden in the basement of the scream factory. There, Mike is shown a large vacuum-based device designed to drain energy from children, called a Scream Extractor. Sulley and Boo, who have followed Randall, distract him and free Mike from the machine, leaving Randall’s assistant in his place.

Later on, Sulley turns up at the simulation room to teach new scare recruits what a good, loud roar is. Boo, who escapes from where Mike is hiding her, runs out in front of Sulley, giggling. Sulley pleads not to have to scare the simulation child but Mr.Waternoose forces him. As he roars, he inadvertently frightens Boo and causes her to burst into tears. After running away screaming, she trips; the hood of her costume reveals that she is the escaped human child. Sulley, guilty, looks up at the images of the scare in action, revealing Boo’s crying face. Sulley understands how children really feel when scared.

Mike quickly reports Randall’s scheming to Mr.Waternoose before he can seize Boo. But it turns out that Mr.Waternoose is in favor of Randall’s plan. Because of the decline in productivity, he fears for the company’s future, and sees Randall’s machine as the only way of ensuring Monsters Inc’s survival.Mr. Waternoose betrays Sulley and Mike, and sends the two into the Himalaya mountains through a one-way teleportation door.

The two stay with the Abominable Snowman at a cave until the Snowman tells Sulley of a village far below the mountain. After an argument with Mike, Sulley sneaks back to the monsters’ world through a closet door in a child’s bedroom in the village; Mike soon follows. The two confront Randall and attempt to rescue Boo from his grasp. Boo, no longer afraid of Randall, attacks him. Then Mike and Sulley push Randall through a teleportation door that sends him to a remote motorhome in a Louisiana swamp, where he is beaten with a shovel by the family living inside, who mistake him for an alligator. Mike and Sulley destroy the door Randall went through, thus ensuring that he doesn’t return soon.

Mike and Sulley then use Boo to lure Mr. Waternoose onto the company’s scare rehearsal stage. On the stage, Sulley angers Mr.Waternoose to the point that Mr.Waternoose yells out his wicked plan in anger: “I’ll kidnap a thousand children before I let this company die!”. Mr. Waternoose’s statement is caught on tape, and he is taken into custody by the CDA. It is also revealed that the secretary, Roz, was in fact the leader of the CDA and had been doing undercover work for the agency. Boo is soon sent home and her door is put through a wood chipper.

During his time with Boo, Sulley has learned that children’s laughter is much better than screams at generating power. Using this brand new approach, Sulley is made the new Chairman and CEO of Monsters, Inc. and the company is redesigned. Now the monsters enter through the teleportation doors and make kids laugh; in this way, ample power is created for Monstropolis, thus ending the power shortages in the city. Meanwhile, Mike has secretly reassembled Boo’s splintered door, and the only part missing from it is the wood chip that Sulley had salvaged as a memory of Boo. Mike shows this to Sulley, and Sulley puts the wood chip in place and the door becomes functional. Then, Sulley enters through the door to take one more peek inside.

Boo is heard but not seen, and the movie ends with a surprised and pleased smile on Sulley’s face.

DJ’s Review

Monster, Inc., a joint production of Disney and Pixar Studios was released just before Christmas 2001. The first time I watch Monsters,Inc., my mama and I watched it together. I have to admit that there was a few scary scenes but they were funny at the same time. Mama said the lesson to learn from this movie is “Not to judge people but try and understand them. Know that there is goodness in everyone even if they are different than us.” “It is better to bring joy and happiness than to bring fear and pain to people. Never take advantage of a person’s weakness and fear of things.”

I have watched this movie many, many times and I always enjoy it like it was the first viewing. I think that it is a great movie for children and even adults. I give this movie a four golden binkee award.

Hi Everyone!

DJ smiling during his daily postingDada has made some additions to Dj’s World.

The first addition is a new page called “Archives.” Since Dj’s World is growing larger everyday, Dada thought it would be a good idea to have a page set-up so that you can look for specific postings. This is like a catalog of postings and it lets you see if there is an interesting article that you may have missed or, if you are new to DJ’s World, a nice way to catch up with the different postings. Take a look at the new page and spend some time looking through the postings.

The next addition is DJ’s Reviews. I had posted, early on, that I would like to tell you about movies that I like to watch and about games that I play on my computer and my Play Station 2. Mama and I came up with a rating system. We call it the “Golden Binkee Award.” We will use from one to five golden binkees to rate the item. Here is an example of the Golden Binkee Award.

A picture of the Golden Binkee Award showing 5 golden binkees

We will rate the movie or game based on a rating system of one golden binkee means “Don’t waste your time.” Two golden binkee means “Its OK but I wouldn’t keep it for further use.” Three golden binkee means “Its great and you should keep it for your “library of fun.”" Four golden binkees means “I want to use it on a weekly basis.” Finally, five golden binkees means “How did I ever live without it. I need it everyday!”

I know that many of the movies and games may have been around a long time but for many young children (like myself), it is the first time we are getting to see the movie or play the game. Many older movies or games have a lot to offer for young children.

I hope that you will enjoy these new additions to DJ’s World.

In closing, I know that I have many visitors to DJ’s World each and everyday. I would like to ask a favor of all of you. Please leave your comments so that we will know what you think about the postings and with your suggestions, we can make DJ’s World a better, more fun place for everyone.

Thanks for your visit. See you tomorrow!
