Hi Everyone!

Picture of DJ smiling during his daily postingToday, was a beautiful day!

I woke up this morning with the sun shining bright in my window. It was so nice to see the sun and the blue sky after so many weeks of clouds, rain and storms. I could not wait to finish breakfast so I could go outside and play with my friends.

After playing games with my friends, I helped Mama clean-up the yard. There was a lot to clean-up from the windy storms. We trimmed the plants, trees and the grass. It really got hot in the afternoon so I went inside and played games in the house. Later in the afternoon, I went outside and played some more.

It was a really great day.
Here is a cartoon from the past to show how to have fun on a really beautiful day.

Hi Everyone!

picture of DJ smiling during his daily postingThis weekend is a three day holiday weekend in the Philippines. The storms are all gone and we are having great weather. What has made it extra special is Mama surprised us all and had two of our cousins here for the whole weekend.

It has been great, so far, as I have my older brother and sisters plus two cousins to play with all day. We have been playing games outside during the day time and playing video games and watching movies (with great big bowls of popcorn) during the evening.

This morning we all attended church services and played the rest of the day. Tomorrow, we will play but my cousins must go home in the late afternoon as they must get ready for school on Tuesday.

What a great weekend! I hope that you all had a safe and wonderful weekend.

Hi Everyone!

picture of DJ smiling during his daily postingWell, we are in the middle of rainy season and August is the month where we, in the Philippines, get the most rain. It has been rainy nearly everyday this month. We have had some tropical storms to include a few typhoons. Right now, we are waiting on a new typhoon to hit the Philippines in the next 48 hours. Luckily, it seems the typhoon will stay in the extreme northern part of Luzon.

Days like this tend to make it hard for children. My big brother and older sisters have to leave very early in the morning to go to school. The school bus picks them up at 6:45am and brings them home at 5:15pm. That is a really long day to be in school. When it is rainy, it makes the air very moist and heavy and when school kids get wet they have to sit in class in wet clothes. That is why so many kids get sick during rainy season. KIds that don’t attend school yet, like me, have to stay in the house for long periods of time. I like to play outside and I miss playing with my friends different games like soccer. There are another two months of rainy season and then the weather will get better. The very best season in the Philippines is winter because the air is cool and dry. It is a beautiful time to visit the Philippines.

2008 Beijing Olympics

Hi everyone!

picture of DJ smiling during his daily postingI hope that everyone had a great weekend.

Last Friday night, our entire family watched the opening ceremonies of the 2008 Beijing Olympics. The show started at exactly 8:00 PM as this is a lucky number in China. There were three 8s involved as it was the 8th month, 8th day, and the 8th hour.

The show lasted a total of 4 hours. Mama allowed me to stay up to watch the entire show but I fell asleep when the teams started marching in. Dada told me the next morning what I missed but I was lucky as I watched the rest later in the day on a re-run of the show.

The entire program was great. From the fireworks to the wonderful shows that included over 15,000 performers. The show showed the five major contributions that the Chinese have made to the world. The show took  you through the history of China. There were so many beautiful costumes and the special lighting effects were unbelievable.

I think the greatest part of the show was when the former gold medal winner from China lit the Olympic Torch. I know that the man was hooked up to cables but he “flew” up to the top of the stadium and then it looked like he was running sideways alone the top of the stadium. It was really neat!

Dada said that there was already complaints on the American news channels that there was some fake fireworks displays used but most people know that the Chinese did this to protect the stadium from possible fires not to really fool anyone. I think that there are certain people in the world that are jealous of what the people of China have accomplished. That is really not nice. The people of China have worked so hard for 7 years to make the Olympics as perfect as possible. Hooray for the people of China for a wonder start to the 2008 Olympics.

I hope that the entire 16 days of the Olympic Games go perfectly and are safe without anyone getting hurt.
