Hello Everyone!

A few days ago. we received a great surprise from America. It was a package from my cousin. Before I tell you what the surprise was, I would like to tell you the story behind the surprise.

About two years ago, Mama and Dada started looking into the possibility of verifying my cousin Shiela’s true citizenship. Shiela’s natural birth father was an American citizen. Although Shiela was over 21 years old at the time, they still wanted to see if they could get her US citizenship.

After a long year of paperwork, many trips to the US Embassy in Manila and, even, DNA testing, Shiela was given US citizenship and a new US passport. After a few months, the money was gotten together to provide her with an airline ticket to New York City. Shiela has relatives on her natural birth father’s side, so it was decided that she would stay with her grandmother in New York.

Shiela was so happy with what Mama and Dada had done for her that she said ” I will repay you all someday.” Of course, Mama and Dada said that was not necessary because she is our family. Shiela said “OK, but I will send a surprise from the States!”

When Shiela arrived in the States she got her first job and started making money. From her first paycheck, she purchased a surprise for me and my brother and sisters. The surprise was: The newest PSP model – the PSP go.

Today is my 6th birthday. Time is really flying by fast. Happy Birthday to all the kids around the world who share the same birth date.

You remember that my best friend Angelo (“Angel”) was seriously hurt in an accident a few weeks ago.

Well, I am happy to let you know that Angel is back home and recovering from the accident. Mama said that Angel had to have surgery on his skull because there was a dangerous “dent” in the back of his skull.

My family and I was so worried about Angel during those weeks and we prayed everyday for his full recovery. We are happy that our prayers were heard.

Angel will have to spend the next few weeks resting and getting well but there is a very strong chance that he will fully recover.

With our coming summer break from school in the last half part of March,  I am hoping that Angel will be fully recovered so we can play together each and everyday.

Welcome home Angel! You are my very best friend.

This past weekend was a very unhappy time for my family and, especially, me.

Hi Everyone, I am really sad

Saturday afternoon, Angelo, my very best friend, and his older brother were playing in the street in front of our house. I was just coming out to the street with my older brother and sisters to play with them, when we saw a local boy riding a bicycle coming towards Angelo. The boy was riding very fast and he hit Angelo. Angelo fell hitting his head on the bicycle wheel and then very hard on the concrete pavement. His older brother picked him up right away but Angelo was bleeding very heavily from his head.

Angelo was taken to the local general hospital.  Yesterday afternoon, Mama went to the hospital to visit Angelo and his family. Our families are very close and Mama is a good friend of Angelo’s mother. Early this morning, Angelo was operated on his brain by a neurosurgeon. The doctor said that the operation went well but the next few days will tell how well Angelo recovers. If all goes well, Angelo could come home in 7-10 days.

Angelo is my very best friend as we have played together since we were two years old. We live only two houses apart. I am praying very hard each day that my best friend will get well soon. I miss him so much and I can’t wait to, once again,play with him. Please include Angelo in your prayers.

Hello Everyone!

Mama has been teaching me about what she calls “basic manners.”

Mama calls “Please”, “Thank You” and “Excuse Me” the three magic phrases. She said that these are the most important words to learn so you can live your life in a polite and nice way.

Mama said that there are some other words that are important to learn. Here are some of the most important ones to remember:

–”You are welcome” is important to say when someone says to you “Thank You.”

–”No, thank you” is a better way of just saying “No” or some other words when you don’t like something or don’t want to do something.

–”Hi, how are you?” is always a friendly greeting when meeting someone. If someone asks this of you, then your reply would be “Fine, thanks. How are you?”

–”Can I…?” Mama says it is always nicer to ask than to demand something. (Mama said this is the proper way; not “May I…?”

Mama told me that we will continue to work and learn more about manners in the coming weeks. She said that it is very important to learn these important things when you are young.
