I have always like space movies where there are aliens and people traveling to other planets.

Planet 51 is a great cartoon movie that has a astronaut from Earth landing on a distant planet. Here is how the movie goes:

Make new friends at Planet 51

When astronaut Captain Charles “Chuck” Baker lands on Planet 51, he quickly realizes that he is not alone. The world is inhabited by green aliens — green aliens who seem to be stuck in a 1950s American culture. There is no explanation as to how this remarkable resemblance to American culture came about, or as to how the aliens speak English, but no matter, an alien named Lem agrees to help Chuck (who is actually the alien on this planet) out and get him back to his ship.

This task proves harder than expected, though, when alien General Grawl and Professor Kipple get involved. Convinced the “humaniac” is out to take over the Planet 51 inhabitants’ brains, the General and his army set out to capture Chuck. At great peril to himself, Lem continues to try and help Chuck. With the help of a few of Lem’s friends and Chuck’s trusty pal Rover, they just might succeed, and if Chuck can put aside his grand vision of himself, he just might be able to teach the inhabitants of Planet 51 a thing or two about the what lies beyond.

I won’t tell you what the ending is but I really did enjoy this movie. There were a few things that was said that I had to ask Dada the meaning. Dada was able to explain what life was like in the 1950s in America.

This is a fun movie for kid’s of all ages.

There is a Planet 51 game for all the modern game consoles such as Sony Play Station 3 and PSP, Nintendo DS and Wii and Microsoft Xbox 360.

Today, I would like review the movie Dragon Hunters.

Dragon Hunters is a tale telling the adventures of two dragon hunters in a world that has become a vast group of islands of varying size and shape. This universe is mainly peopled with tough bad guys, bad tempered peasants and dumb, petty lords. Their main concerns revolve around two fundamental rules : Eat and don’t get eaten. For this new world has become infested with a terrible plague: always present, monstrously hungry, mutant creatures, are wreaking havoc. They are known as : THE DRAGONS.

 GWIZDO and LIAN-CHU are two dragon hunters, but are a long way from being among the best. Their only real talents: the size of the hulking brute with the heart of gold, Lian-Chu, and Gwizdo’s talent for scams of all and any shape or form. Their sole ambition: to buy a little farm where they can enjoy life and raise mussels, a creature that is a lot less unpleasant and difficult to hunt down than dragons.

A few islands away rises the fortress of Lord Arnold. Arnold has a problem: he’s living in terror at the thought of the return of World Eater, that horrible dragon that returns every thirty seasons to spread terror and destruction. Nobody has been able to conquer him. In fact nobody’s ever returned alive to spread the news of how the fight went.

Zoe, the grand-niece of the lord, has decided to take matters in hand, and has met Gwizdo and Lian-Chu. Persuaded that she has found the heroes of her dreams, she is going to drag them into the maddest of adventures…hunting down THE DRAGONS.

This movie was produced in France and was voiced in French. The English voice over is available and this is the copy I viewed. This is a great movie with a great ending which I have not included in my review. You won’t waste your time viewing this movie.

Hi Everyone!

During my break from DJ’s World, I watched a really great movie on Star Movie cable channel.

The movie is called Impy’s Island. Actually that is the english title as the movie was made in Germany. In Germany, the movie is called  Urmel Aus Dem Eis and is based on one of the legendary children’s stories in Germany that everybody knows there. About thirty years ago, the book was turned into a TV show by a legendary marionette theater troupe who have produced countless classics for German television. It is told that “Urmel” is really something that every German child grows up with.

The movie tells the story of Professor Habakuk Tibatong who makes his home on a volcanic island with his adopted son Tim Tintenklecks and helps teach all the island animals the proper way to speak. One day, a glacier floats onto the island with an egg frozen inside of it. When the creature inside finally breaks his way out, the professor is excited to see a prehistoric creature, an Urmel, that was rumored to have lived but no evidence had ever been found of its existence. He had been studying the creature for quite some time and was therefore often ridiculed by the academic world. He sends a message to an arch rival academic of his to let him know that at long last proof of the Urmel has been found. The nemesis, Doctor Zwengelmann, immediately runs to his benefactor King Pumponell, an avid hunter of exotic animals. Excited at the prospect of a unique trophy, the king agrees to go in search of the Urmel to it bring back, dead or alive, for both to see. The members of the island have to race the clock to hide Urmel before it’s too late.

This is a fun movie where no one is really a villan and everyone comes together to protect and love each other. The characters are wonderful and the graphics are really well done. This is a movie that is great for any child at any age. Now, the version I watched on Star Movies was the English language version.

Because of the movie being a German movie, it is not well known but I strongly suggest that you try and find a copy of the movie as it is well worth the time to view it. Dada was able to video tape the movie for me so that I can watch it whenever I want.

Yesterday, I was able to watch the new movie Wall-E.

The movie starts in the future,where humans have trashed Earth to the point it’s uninhabitable. With no means to sustain themselves – plants have all died or are buried under garbage and humans have fled in spaceships where they live their lives and  are serviced by robots.
Back on Earth, WALL-E (short for Waste Allocation Load Lifter Earth-Class) goes about his daily, lonely job of compacting trash. It’s what he was built for and programmed to do, and there’s no reason for him to stop. He was inadvertently left turned on when everyone took off, so he goes about his work each and every day with only a cockroach named Hal as a friend. WALL-E has developed a personality over the hundreds of years alone. He collects items of trash that he then uses to furnish and decorate his home. He’s also developed an affection for the old movie  Hello, Dolly! and watches the old VHS tape over and over again.

Hello, Dolly! has taught WALL-E about holding hands and falling in love, and the lonesome robot has dreams of finding that someone special. After endless years of waiting, WALL-E’s shot at love appears in the form of a glistening egg-shaped drone named EVE. EVE was sent to Earth to check for any signs of life, and WALL-E falls in love for this state-of-the-art metallic cutie. He wants nothing more than to make a connection with this beauty, but EVE’s not on the same wavelength. Fortunately, WALL-E does not give up and when EVE’s sent back to report her findings to the people on board the Axiom spaceship, WALL-E goes along for the ride. Nothing will Wall-E from being with his new love EVE, not hundreds of thousands of miles of space travel, evil robots, or people who’ve lost all concept of what life on Earth was like before their ancestors all but destroyed our planet.

There is the message being taught about protecting our environment and not being so reliant on technology to do our everyday things.What is really neat is there are very few spoken words as WALL-E relies on the movements of a trash compactor wearing binoculars to convey emotions and move forward the story.Within 5 minutes WALL-E is no longer a mere robot but a real creature who feels things as deeply as humans.

Wall-E is really a great movie that I know I will watch many times. It is a great movie for children of all ages right up to 90+ years old!

This weekend, Dada was watching one of his favorite programs Click! on the BBC Network. One of the new websites that they reviewed was www.moshimonsters.com a new children’s website. The show said this was a truly safe website for children. Dada takes a look at it and gives this review. Okay Dada, you are on line!

Hi folks, DJ’s Dada here! One of the first things that caught my eye on this new website, is that while there is plenty of room for socializing, Mind Candy, the parent company of Moshi Monsters, seems very concerned with your child’s safety. They even go so far as to keep an eye on your monster’s pinboard, where your, in - game, friends can leave you messages. These messages go through two levels of moderation before they are release to the child member. The rules states that a member may not give out personal information such as name, address, telephone number or any other critical information that might identify the member child. The more popular you make  your monster, and the more friends you have, the better chance your monster will become Monstar of the Week.

Members adopt their own Monster and keep it happy by solving daily puzzles that are sent to each player. Monster owners can interact with their pets by tickling them, playing games, shopping, designing their rooms, and shortly by dressing them up. One core element being promoted for Moshi Monsters is the ability to build an emotional bond between the user and their Monster, which is achieved through flash animation and a complex behavioral engine. Monsters develop their own unique personalities depending on how well, or badly, they’ve been treated.

Players can connect and communicate with others through the Friends Tree, visits to other Monster rooms, Monster blogs, Newsfeeds, and a messaging system. This site is totally geared towards kids, so online safety is a top priority and the Moshi Monsters team monitors site activity to make sure it remains safe.

 The more attention a Monster gets from its owner and their friends, the higher its Monstar status rises. All Monsters start as Z-Listers and can rise through the ranks to become A-List Monstars. Moshi Monsters is played in the browser and requires no download. The game is free to play, although a subscription feature for premium elements will launch in the future, as well a range of offline products.

Michael Acton Smith, CEO of Mind Candy said, “Playing games and chatting to friends are two of the most popular activities for children online. Moshi Monsters provides these experiences in a safe environment while also helping children learn through the puzzle games and educational elements”

In reviewing this website, the first thing I noticed was the instructional tour had the monsters talking in an “alien” language with the words written in English on the screen. This makes it very difficult for young children to play as reading ability is required. Another action that limits age groups is the daily puzzles and working at the Power Plant. Obviously, this website is targeted to an age group of 6 to 14 years old. Understanding the priority of child safety, this makes it a smart move to target an older child age group. When DJ entered and started as a member his mother was with him helping him to understand the concept of the game.

The most important thing that I found was the genuine concern for the safety of the children on line. Maybe, we are seeing a new generation of on-line responsibility towards the safety of children. I will, now, turn you back to DJ.
